Our daughters are absolutely in love with Tokyo Disney Resort. Even during our time in Singapore, we made it a point to visit Disney during our trips back to Japan. Now that we’re back for good, it’s become an annual tradition for us to visit.
Recently, our younger daughter, who’s two years old, has become obsessed with “Frozen.” As a result, we’ve subscribed to Disney Plus, and she watches “Frozen” whenever she has free time.
This month, a new area called Fantasy Springs opened in Tokyo DisneySea. This area features themes from Peter Pan, Rapunzel, and Frozen, all tied together by the theme of magic.
Naturally, we wanted to plan a trip to visit this new area. However, after doing some research, it seems that visiting Fantasy Springs with young children will be quite challenging at the moment. Here are the reasons why:
Firstly, to enter Fantasy Springs, in addition to a park ticket, you need either a Standby Pass (free) or Disney Premier Access (paid) for the specific attractions in the area. These passes must be obtained through the app after entering the park. Currently, even if you arrive at DisneySea at the earliest possible time, the Standby Passes for the day are gone within minutes. Standing in line early in the morning with young children and competing for these passes is unrealistic, leading us to conclude that we can’t visit Fantasy Springs just yet. The ideal time would be when our daughters are still passionate about “Frozen.”
Due to these circumstances, enjoying Tokyo Disney Resort now requires thorough planning and strategy. Many people, according to news and online sources, have negative opinions about the current situation, especially compared to the past. However, in today’s world, where we have access to all this information beforehand, it seems natural that planning is necessary. The availability of options to enjoy the park more efficiently by spending extra money also makes economic sense.
Given the current weak yen, overseas visitors are economically stronger, which means many Japanese may find themselves at a disadvantage in this competition. However, the influx of tourists spending money in Japan ultimately benefits us, so I welcome it. This situation made me realize that the gap in both information and economic power might continue to widen.
Key Takeaways for Visiting Tokyo Disney Resort
Planning and Strategy
To maximize your experience at Tokyo Disney Resort, especially with new areas like Fantasy Springs, thorough research and strategic planning are essential. Knowing the requirements for entry, such as Standby Passes and Disney Premier Access, can help avoid disappointment and ensure a more enjoyable visit.
Economic Considerations
The weak yen has made Japan a more attractive destination for international tourists, who now have greater spending power. While this can be challenging for local visitors, it also brings economic benefits to the country as a whole.
The Importance of Timing
For families with young children, timing is crucial. Visiting during a period when your children are particularly interested in certain characters or attractions can make the experience even more magical. However, it’s also important to consider the logistical challenges and be flexible with plans.
Embracing Change
The evolving landscape of Tokyo Disney Resort, with its new systems and increased competition, reflects broader trends in society. Embracing these changes and adapting accordingly can lead to more fulfilling experiences, both in the park and beyond.
Conclusion
Our love for Tokyo Disney Resort remains strong, even as we navigate the challenges of visiting new areas like Fantasy Springs. With careful planning and a flexible approach, we look forward to creating many more magical memories with our daughters.
