This weekend, I went camping for the first time in a while. It was a joint trip with my daughter's friend's family.
Spending time in nature is simply wonderful.
Not only did it heal my daily fatigue, but seeing the children having so much fun was deeply satisfying on its own.
I didn't charge my iPhone even once during the trip. Still, when I got home, the battery was over 40%.
That shows just how little I touched my smartphone, allowing me to fully enjoy a real digital detox.
For this camping trip, I brought along an APS-C manual focus pancake lens called "SG-image 25mm F1.8."
It's a very quirky lens, but the very act of manually focusing and taking each shot carefully is incredibly fun. This inefficient process seemed to perfectly match the digital detox environment.
Of course, manual focus is difficult when dealing with energetic children running around, and I missed the focus quite often. But paradoxically, that might have been a good thing.
Looking back at the data later, there were indeed many out-of-focus shots, but among them were some surprisingly atmospheric and striking photos.
I was able to reaffirm the joy of a camera that lets you enjoy its inconveniences, so I plan to keep practicing with it bit by bit.
