Conclusion
This weekend was incredibly hot in Tokyo, so we decided to take a family drive to Nagatoro to enjoy some refreshing kakigori (shaved ice). Nagatoro offers a perfect escape from the city heat with its unique blend of natural beauty, local cuisine, and charming retro atmosphere.
The Refreshing Delight at Asami Reizo
We visited Asami Reizo, renowned for its kakigori made from natural ice and topped with secret syrup. The ambiance of the shop is nostalgic and retro, adding to the overall charm. It’s a bit tricky to get there since it’s accessible only by car or local trains, which might be a hurdle for international tourists. Despite the recent influx of tourists to Japan, we didn’t see many foreign visitors here, making it a hidden gem.
Highlights:
- Natural Ice: The kakigori is made using natural ice, providing a unique texture and flavor.
- Secret Syrup: The syrup is a family recipe, making each bite delightful.
- Retro Ambiance: The shop’s nostalgic setting enhances the overall experience.
